Ability to Withstand Pressure

HDPE tubes must withstand a particular amount of pressure, so polyethylene resin with a high molecular weight and good mechanical qualities, such as HDPE resin, is typically used. The tensile strength of this pipe is nine times that of typical PE pipe.


Resistance to Wear

The wear resistance of HDPE is the best of all technical polymers. The higher the molecular weight, the more wear-resistant the material; however, unlike many metals, such as carbon steel, stainless steel and bronze, regular PE lacks this property.


Pipe Applications

HDPE pipes are commonly used in major municipal and engineering projects since their wall thickness and bearing pressure are higher than PE pipes. Meanwhile, PE pipes are commonly used in small municipal projects, commercial structures and parks.
